In the following cases, heard at the local Courthouse lust Thursday, judgment was given with costs for plaintiffs by dofault. as follows : Stewart Bros, v Joseph Simpson £28 19s Od, same v S. J. Drinuan £2 ; H, Hamilton v G-. Mann £8 2s Id ; M. Mem** hold v P. Hanaen £8 10s 6d, same v R. Wickham £2 4s 4d ; N Pavish v T. Craniond £4. On Judgment summonses the following orders were made : Stewart Bros, v Hanu Timuti £47 Is 4d, to pay forthwith in default 30 days imprisonment, warrant to be suspended if 10s a month paid ; same v, Tetana Manakau £2 13s 0, in dofault 3 days in gaol, warrant suspended ono month; same v Whirinaki Brown £9 4s Gd, to pay forthwith in default-8 days imprison meat, warrant suspended if paid by January i6th ; same v Jas. Silich £4 9s Od, to pay forthwith, in default 5 dnys in goal, order suspended one month ; same v Geo. Snell £2 9s 7d, I to pay forthwith, in default 3 days imprisonment, order suspended one mouth ; same v Eobt. Porter £9 8s 6d, to pay forthwith, in default 9 days retirmnent, warrant suspended if £ L a month be pairl; same v Wm. Bush £9 Us 6d, in default 10 days in goal, warrant .suspended two months ; same v E, M. Pennyfather £4 2s 2d, in default 5 days imprisonment, warrant as susponded for two months. Other Judgment summonses were adjourneri. A case under the Defence Act of failuro to attend drills was adjourned to next Court day. There were two applications for Old Age Pensions, one being granted and the other held over for consideration. A casa in which a lot of interest was taken throughout Rodney County was before the Court. T. Carroll sued the Rodney Council for £200 damages alleged as the result of the Council's workmen starting a fire near plantiff's property at Wellsford, The case oc cupied a lot of time and did not con elude until nearly ten o'clo2k on Friday evening, there being a good number of witnesses. When the evidence closed the Magishate reserved his decision so that he could view the lofiality where the fire occurred. Mr Selwyn Mays was for plaiutiff and Mr T..Cotter, K.C., for the Council.
