During the sitting, Mr Gillies, the Premier, made a statement to the effect that the Victorian Government deemed it unnecessary to ask the other colonies to renew the protest regarding the occupation of the New Hebrides by France. The only satisfactory solution would he fixing a date for the withdrawal of the French troops from the colonies.
