Gentlemen of England was resumed and concluded to-day, at the Oval. The weather was fine, and the attendance good. The wicket was rather humpy. The Australians with three wickets down and 282 runs to their credit, continued their first innings with Jones and Bruce the not outs of yesterday, the former succeeding in adding 5 to his score, when he was caught, his innings having resulted in the splendid total of 151, The innings closed for a total of 488, or 17 ahead of the Gentlemen. The latter in their second innings, owing to the absence of Lucas and Roller from injuries received in the field, played (wo men short, and only succeeded in putting together 105. Grace, Turner and Hawke were highest scorers, each playing a careful innings. The second innings of the Gentlemen closed at about the time for drawing the stumps, and the match therefore was declared drawn in favour of the Australians, who only required S 9 tuns in their second innings to win.
