The season of 1877 is the last of a Series of engagements for which Madame Patti has signed with Mr Gye. That engagement is for .£2lO per night for ten night 3 certain and £lO5 for each Floral Hall concert. After T 877, Madame Patti will only contract from season to season. She will probably accept starring engements in the service of the highest bidder compatible with her artistic reputation. "Funny monkey," said Mrs Partington as she saw him patiently sitting " but he sits as if he had plumbago in the back, and I could wish there was more hair on his represensible tail. At the Greenwich workhouse, ft woman died. The body was taken to the house of her supposed daughters* one of whom declared it was not the body of her mother. Another body was then sent from the workhouse. This also was not recognised. It was then dissevered that • the mother was not dead.
