Kawhia Carnival Notes

Although the aquatic section of the annual Kawhia Carnival has been postponed this year until a later date, the Club has again an attractive programme to pre sent to the public. Equestrian events, of a varied and interesting nature, are spread over a two days’ schedule interspersed with athletic and other competitions. Horseowners will have little to complain of in the matter of the prize tariff, which is of a liberal nature, while provision is made for all classes of mounts, both on the flat and over timber. Featuring strongly in the athletic portion are a number of items restricted to school children, including a school championship and the popular Relay race. The latter event is a competition for teams of four, and is run on the “tablet” system. Suitable and valuable trophies have been allotted by the committee in these and other children's events to encourage all the distaict schools to take part
