Public Trust Office.

NEW REGULATIONS. The amended regulations of tbs Public Trust Office, as approved by tbe Governorin-Couucil, are published in tbe last Gazette. These regulations have recently been revised by tbe Public Trustee with the object of removing certain anomalies that existed in connection with the charges which the office is authorised to make for the administration of estates. The regulations have been made as comprehensive as possible, and matters of office practice in respect to tbe interest allowed on funds at credit of estates and tbe rates of commission that apply to particular circumstances not included in previous regulations have been added. The opportunity has also been taken to make tbe system of crediting interest more advantageous to the beneficiaries. A useful provision is seen in the regulation providing for the establishment of a acoounf at the Bank of New Zealand, London, in the name of the Public Trustee for tbe purpose of facilitating payments and remittances between New Zealand and London, and avoiding as far as possible the expense attendant on the high rates of exchange now ruling. Tbe new regulations are most voluminous, and furnish, for the guidance of the staff and the public, a complete cede governing the office duties and carrying into effect tbe Public Trustee’s present policy of administering tbe office.
