On Saturday evening the residence of Mr and Mrs J. E. Noonan of Te Kauri was the scene of a most enjoyable ’party, the occasion being a “welcome home ” to Miss Jessie Cavers (now Matron of the Boys’ Probation Home, -Mt Albert, Auckland). Dancing took place in the sitting-room, which was cleared for the occasion, dance music being kindly supplied by Mr J. R. Noonan, and a verv enjoyable supper was dispensed in the diningroom which was tastefully decorated and made cheery with a bright open fire. Quite a number of friends were present from Awaroa and Waiharakeke, also Te Kuiti and Pio Pio. Some of those present were :—Miss Cavers who wore a pretty biscuit coloured poplin (hand embroidered) ; Mrs Noonan, navy velvet relieved with creme lace ; Miss Berntsen, pretty floral voile ; Miss H. Parkinson, cream crepe de chene and Brussels net; Miss E. Franklin, pale blue crepe de chene ; Miss Cowern, dainty cream net blouse and dark skirt ; Miss M. Cowern, navy beaded crepe de chene frock, and Miss M. Cavers, white embroidered voile. Songs were kindly rendered by Messrs D. and F. Cavers, also Miss Cavers, while several select violin solos played by Mr D. Noonan and Miss pavers (Miss M. Cowern accompanying piano) were much appreciated. Dancing, card-playing and games were kept going until quite late, when a very successful evening was brought to a close by everyone joining in and singing" Auld Lang Syne.”
