BEEF IN FIRMER DEMAND
VALUES AT FRAIMKTON. ALL SORTS IN REQUEST. A firmer demand was evident for all classes of beef at the Frankton stock sale yesterday, when values were slightly better than last week. In some cases there was a rise of approximately £1 a head, but ki the majority of cases the rise was not so noticeable. The yarding was a fuller one than last week, but the quality was inclined to be rather variable. The demand for ox was keen throughout and the top price of £l6 7s 6d was the highest realised at the yards this year, and almost £2 better than the best quotation of last week. Calves sold at fully firm quotations, while boners were also in request. More fat pigs were yarded and the demand was fairly keen from a small bench of buyers values showing no noticeable alteration. Heavy prime steers made from £l4 5s to £l6 7s 6d; prime £l2 7s 6d to £l3 17s 6d; lighter £9 17s 6d to £ll lis 6d; small £8 7s 6d to £8 17s 6d; prime cows and heifers £9 to £lO 15s; lighter prime £7 5s to £8 15s; fat £6 to £7; light and killable £3 10s to £5. Pigs: Baconers 65s to 87s; porkers 42s to 635.
