An announcement that the investigations recently concluded had shown the proposed iron and steel industry for New Zealand to be economic ii every sense and that it was intended to proceed with the scheme, was- made by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, in his Budget speech last night. The work will involve the expenditure of about £5,00,0000 in approximately three and a half years.
