SHARP RISE IN WETHER HOGGETS.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Te Kuiti on Friday, when a small yarding of sheep and cattle was offered to an attendance of local and Otorohanga buyer?. A feature of the sale was the sharp rise in wether hoggets. These were keenly competed for and changed hands at prices 2s 6d to 3s in .advance of late rates. Ewes also attracted attention. Though the weather was unfavourable there was a good attendance and competition for sheep, particularly hoggets, was keen at advanced rates. A fairly good line of wether hoggets from the Te Kuiti aerodrome made 13s lOd, other good lines selling at 12s 9d, while small sorts made 8s to 9s. Medium 2, 4 and 6-tooth ewes realised 17s 3d; fair quality, full-mouth ewes 15s; aged and light conditioned sorts lis to 12s 3d; dairy cows, fair sorts, sold from £5 15s, £6, to £6 15s; rough quality in-calf heifers made £4 4s to £5; empty 2-year Jersey heifers realised £3 10».

OTOROHANGA STOCK SALE.

Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on Otorohanga sale on the 26th instant as follows;

We had a fair yarding of sheep and cattle and have to report a clearance, though following the rough weather the demand was not so keen for sheep and dairy cattle. Pigs, of which there was only a small yarding, were in keen demand and values were firm. Juotations: Fat and forward wethers 17s to 18s 6d; fat Southdown 2-tooths to 16s; good conditioned down lambs lis to lis 6d; small sorts 6s 6d; Romney wether hoggets, fair to good 10s to lis 6d; Romney ewe hoggets, well grown sorts, 16s; medium 14s; plain store wethers 13s; f.m. ewes in lamb 13s. Boner cows £2 10s to £3 10s. In the dairy section we had a fair entry but the market was not keen. Fair quality heifers close to profit made from £6 to £7 10s; later sorts £5 to £5 15s; small and inferior £3 10s to £4 15s; heifers in milk, useful sorts, made from £5 10s to £6 15s; cows, ordinary quality £5 15s to £6 10s; good store pigs sold from 28s to 355; small good sorts 18s to 255.
