The latest dance hit, "Little Sir Echo," which has received immense popularity in the United States, is to be featured at the Waitete Football Club's dance on Saturday night by Les. Stout's Dance Band.
The interest which Australian sheepmen are taking in the fat lamb export industry is reflected in the recent purchases of rams and ewes from New Zealand. This interest has been intensified recently as a result of excellent rains which have been experienced in many parts of the Commonwealth. Large orders are still being received by Dominion breeders for Ryeland, Southdown and Romney ewes, as well as rams. Among the recent South Australian orders filled was one for 100 Romney ram hoggets from the flock of Mr. W. Kennedy, Otautau, Southland.
Up to Wednesday of last week the Tory Channel whalers had made 57 captures in Cook Strait, most of the whales being large, and averaging six tons of oil each, states the Marlborough Express. The total is only two or three fewer than at the corresponding time last year, which was a record.
