“The only action we can take against a man who does not turn out to parades,” said Colonel P. H. Bell, Officer Commanding the Southern Military District, in Christchurch on Tuesday, “is to ask for an explanation, and if very good reasons are not given, then we can tell the man that he is not suitable for training, and he will be dropped.”
