GOLF NOTES
BOGEY MATCH PLAY-OFF. OTHER COMPETITION RESULTS. The Riverhead Gold Cup bogey match was finalised last week-end when A. Fleming beat K. W. Low by a small margin in the play-off. In the Steedman-Herbert Cup, W. Symonds advanced to the semi-final by defeating C. Wilson in another close game. In the quarter-finals, O'Connell beat Gould 4 and 3. C. S. Johnston produced another good card to carry off the Saturday afternoon medal match. In spite of a reduction a fortnight ago he again beat.bogey figures. In a Stableford match scoring was not high and J. M. Hine had a win by one point from Pilkington and Powdrill who netted 32. >
Most of the first round championship matches were played off during the week-end but some still remain to be completed. The monthly medal match will be played next Saturday. In order to finish the first round championship matches no draw will be made, players arranging their own games and where necessary playing off their matches. The club's,open tournament will be held on the 23rd, when play will start at 8.30 a.m. Post entries will be accepted but where possible entries should be handed to the secretary during the week.
