WEDDINGS
PHILLIPS—WAINWRIGHT. A .wedding of wide .interest was solemnised in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Te Kuiti, on Saturday last, when Esme, youngest daughter of Mrs. E. Wainwright, of Te Kuiti, was married to. Philip, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. 0. R. Phillips, of Otorohanga. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. The Rev. W. T. Brabyn officiated, and Mr. 0. Haines played the wedding music, while during the ceremony a solo was sung by Miss L. Spence.
The bride, escorted by Mr. Whincop, an old family friend, wore a graceful trained frock of organdie lace over satin, while her veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and was worn over the face as she entered the church. Her bouquet was of orchids, lily of the valley, snowdrops and maidenhair fern.
In attendance upon the bride was Miss Iris Dean and Miss Maidie Phillips, the latter a sister of the bridegroom. They wore pretty frocks of ring velvet in apricot and apple green respectively, cut with long close-fitting sleeves, pointed waist line, and gauged bodices, while the skirts had petal shaped trains caught with hand-made flowers. Their head; dresses were net shoulder-length veils also finished with hand-made flowers and streamers. Their bouquets comprised irises, scarlet carnations and maidenhair fern, Mr. W. Sanders was best man, and Mr. F. Phillips groomsman, the ushers being Messrs. D. and S. Phillips. The reception was later held in the Friendly Societies'. Hall, where the guests were received by the bride's mother wearing a black ensemble, relieved with white, and a matching hat. She was assisted by the bridegrooms mother, who wore a navy frock and hat with a black coat. There were guests from as far north as Auckland and as far south as South Canterbury. Solos were sung by Miss L. Spence and Mr. R. Sanders. The bride travelled in a rust suit, green coat and matching accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Phillips later left for the South Island.
MORRIS—MERNIN. The wedding was solemnised at St. George's Cathloic Church on Saturday between Patricia Margaret, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Mernin, of Te Kuiti, and Richard Edmond, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Morris, Ashhurst. The Rev. Father Shore performed the ceremony.
