OBITUARY
MRS. G. T. WILKINSON. The death has occurred at Otorohanga of one of its oldest residents in the person of Hariata Rauru (Nahora), widow of the late Mr. George T. Wilkinson, who in the early days was Native Lands Purchase Officer for the Crown, Native Agent, Judge of the Native Land Court—with his headquarters for many years at Otorohanga. The deceased lady was well known and highly respected by both races throughout the Northern King Country and the Thames Valley. The late Mrs. Wilkinson held high rank in her tribe, and a large tangi was held at Te Kumi and afterwards at the Te Kuiti Pa, districts where the deceased had extensive lands and tribal interests. Her husband pre-deceased her by 33 years, and she is survived by a grown-up family, including Mrs. H. J. Osmond, of Otorohanga, and Captain Wilkinson, postmaster at Cromwell (Qtago). Deceased had lived the greater part of her 76 years at Otorohanga, where the final funeral rites were observed in the Otorohanga Cemetery on Friday last. Rev. S. W. Webber officiated owing to the unavoidable absence of the Vicar.
