Mr. and Mrs. T. Sparks are spending a holiday in Auckland.
Mr. K. J. Graham left last night as half-back. for the King Country football team which plays Taranaki at Stratford to-day.
Mrs. R. Gibbs, of Auckland, is spending a few days as the guest of Mrs. J. Hart.
A large and representative gathering met in the Social Hall of the Te Kuiti Methodist Church last evening to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Simpson and family, who leave, this morning for Christchurch. Items were contributed as follows: Solos, Miss S. Taylor and Mrs. Lever; duet, Misses W. and D. Banfield; elocutionary item, Mr. G. Elliott; humorous reading, Rev. R. Grice; and a first aid demonstration was given by members of the St. John Ambulance. Various games and competitions added to the enjoyment of the evening. After a delightful supper had been provided by members of the Ladies' Guild, eulogistic reference was made regarding the work of Mrs. Simpson for the local Church. Mrs. R. Grice spoke on behalf of the Ladies' Guild, Mr. L. T. Hobson for the Circuit, Mr. W. Walker for the Trust, and Mr. G. Miln for the Sunday School. Mrs. N. Wilson also spoke on behalf of the St. John Ambulance Association. The .Rev. Grice then brought what had proved to be a very pleasant evening to a close with prayer.
