THREE DOCTORS REGISTER. 18 PRIVATE HOSPITALS. ADDITIONS IN SOUTH AUCKLAND Only two of an approximate number of 55 or 60 medical pratitioners in the district of the South Auckland Division of the British Medical Association who would normally undertake maternity work have entered into a contract to provide medical services in relation to the maternity benefits under the social security scheme. A third doctor from Ohura is included in the list issued by the Department of Health. The two practictioners in the South Auckland District who have entered upon a contract with the Minister are both from Te Awamutu. They are Dr. K. N. Hiskens and Dr. L. S. Roigers. The Ohura doctor is Dr. R. B. Turnball. A fairly large district will be served by the two Te Awamutu. doctors who are providing maternity services. Dr. Rogers practises within a radius of 20 miles from Te Awamutu, while Dr. Hiskens has undertaken to visit patients in Te Awamutu, Ohaupo, Kaipaki, Roto-o-rangi, Arohena, Kio Kio, Te Kawa, Te Rau-a-moa, Pirongia, Te Pahu and Ngahinepouri.

Seven Public Hospitals.

Licensed maternity hospitals in the South Auckland district, the licensees of which have entered into a contract with the Minister of Health to; provide hospital services in relation to the maternity benefits, number 18. This includes the majority of, the hospitals, and in addition the services will be available at seven public hospitals, namely, the Waikato Hospital the Kawhia Hospital, the Matamata Maternity. Hospital, the Rotorua Hospital, the Te Kuiti Hospital, the Taumarunui Maternity Hospital, and the Huntly Hospital. Of the 18 private maternity Hospitals which have entered upon a contract, four have agreed since June 12 to provide the service. The other 14 have afforded service since May 15, with the exception of one which came into the scheme on May 25. j
