The quotation of a certain couplet, however, aroused a look of keen appreciation in one she considered hopeless. 'Tom," said she, "what does 'Two men looked through the prison bars. The one saw mud . . the other stars,' suggests to you?" "That it must have been a glorious scrap!" said the unimaginative one.
