WINTER SHOW

SATISFACTORY GATE-TAKINGS. COMPETITIONS CREATE MUCH INTEREST. GOOD BUSINESS BY STALLS. The Winter Show continued on Friday and Saturday, being crowded in the afternoon and evening of both days. Though as yet there has been no opportunity to check the figures, the gate-takings are believed to be approximately the same as last year, .£l4O. Excellent patronage was extended to the competitions, about £4O being taken in all, but this amoufit will be paid away in prizemoney.

The response of patrons to the Art Exhibition by the Auckland Society of Arts was disappointing, and the Association will have to meet a fairly substantial loss on the exhibition. Taken all round, however, the Show was undoubtedly the most successful yet held, the encouraging feature of course being the large number of entries.

An indication of the large amount of business transacted at the stalls may be had from the fact that £6B was taken on behalf of the Blind Institute. The stallholders appeared very satisfied with results.
