NO DARTS IN PUBS

A GLASGOW INTERDICT. Glasgow magistrates decided by 12 votes to five to forbid the playing of darts in the city’s public-houses, says “The Manchester Guardian.” Bailie T. A. Kerr, the senior magistrate, said that darts was a game for young men rather than for old, and he could not support anything that would encourage young men to frequent public-houses. This is the third magisterial decision in the matter of Glasgow’s darts. Recently the Bench prohibited the playing of all games, including darts, draughts and dominoes, in licensed premises, but they later decided to allow draughts and dominoes.

The Chief Constable raised no objections to the playing of darts, provided that licensees conformed to certain regulations for the safety of patrons.
