Sir Kingsley Wood, Air Minister, opening the annual conference of the Empire Press Union, revealed plans for increasing Empire air defence during the next two years by a greater number of permanent squadrons overseas, including general reconnaissance types in order to protect vital trade interests. Volunteer reserve training facilities would also be established wher R.A.F. units were already stationed.
