The U.S. State Department announced that the United States and Britain had signed an unprecedented barter agreement whereby 30,000,000 dollars’ worth of American cotton would be exchanged for an equal amount of rubber to be supplied by the British Government.
Mi'. Cecil Davis, hori. agent for the New Zealand Government, who was subjected to indignities at Tientsin on entering the concession, was stripped despite his protestation that he was the agent of the New Zealand Government.
The Duke of Windsor’s birthday rejoicings became tragedy when an unidentified photographer fell 186 feet from the first platform of the Eiffel Tower and was killed.
The “Daily Express” says the New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr. Walter Nash, began negotiations on Friday for financial aid to the Dominion with Mr. R. S. Hudson, Parliamentary Secretary of Overseas Trade. Mr. Nash wants a loan backed by the British Government.
