SKIN TREATMENTS.

SALT AN EFFECTIVE TONIC,

Salt is one of the best and most invigorating treatments which can be applied to the skin. For tired skins it has the same effect as a cocktail. It is a tonic, and it will make the skin alive and fresh. As the salt glow increases the circulation of the blood supply, it is just as well to undergo the treatment at night so that the skin will settle down before morning. By undergoing this treatment all hard skin and discoloration will be removed as if by magic. To carry out this treatment successfully you will require some ordinary table salt and some almond oil. Place the almond oil in a saucer and allow it to stand in some boiling water so that it will become warm. Whilst it is warming cleanse your face either with cleansing cream or with soap and water. Then, after drying the face, dab the warm almond oil thickly over the skin. Massage it gently in until the skin has absorbed all that .it can and then give it another application. The more oil that you apply, the better will be the result, as it has nourishing qualities which the skin will absorb.

Then place some ordinary fine table salt in the fingers, and, beginning at the chin, massage in small circles up over the cheeks and to the forehead. Rub the salt well into all the wrinkles and make sure that not a fraction of an inch of skin is missed or neglected. See that the neck and throat also receive their quota of attention, as these parts are very often neglected. It is astounding the number of women who will persist in making- up their faces and entirely neglecting their necklines.

At frequent intervals renew the supply of salt until you feel the blood tingling beneath the surface of the skin.

When you think that the face has received quite enough of this salt glow treatment you can then apply more oil and wipe off as much of the surplus as is possible with clean facial tissues. Then bathe the face in warm water, using no soap, dry with a soft towel, and dab the skin with face tonic.

Arms White and Soft.

Arms which are covered with goosefleshy pimples can never appear attractive, and you will find that the salt treatment is an excellent way of discouraging them. Not only will it

make the skin soft and white, but all signs of the blemishes will disappear. First massage the skin with the almond oil, apply a little of the salt, and massage it well into the skin, finally placing a generous layer of the salt in the palm of the hand and rubbing it vigorously into the flesh. Use plenty of energy, and do not be afraid that you will harm yourself. Even though you may concentrate on the goosefleshy parts, you can still give the whole of your arms this simple treatment right from the tips of the fingers to the shoulder-blades.

When you reach the elbows, place a handful of the salt into the palm of the hand, and then, after placing the elbow in the cupped palm, rotate it so that every particle of the salt is massaged into the skin. The elbows are a part of the arm which are very often neglected, and consequently they become discoloured and horny, and therefore will require a much more vigorous treatment than the other parts of the arm. These simple salt treatments will soon make the skin soft and white, and are quite worthy of a trial.
