PLUNKET BALL

ANNUAL PIO PIO FUNCTION. The annual ball of the Plunket Society was held in the Pio Pio Town Hall on Wednesday. The music was supplied by Keighley’s orchestra. The Monte Carlos were won by Mr. Farrer and Mrs. Ronaldson, and Mrs. Helms and Mr. Piercy. The arrangements were carried out by the committee —Mesdames F. Allison, B. Morris, P. Cullen, Gould, Bargh, C. Johnston, F. Cocking, D. Rodger, D. Nelson, Yoyce, Schou, Carrel, H. Hudson and O’Connor. Amongst those present were: — Mesdames J. B. Hodgson, black lace; J. Personal

Mrs. E. Johnston, of Christchurch, is at present spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Johnston.

Also visiting Mr. and Mrs. Johnston is Captain W. Smith, Christchurch.

Miss Mary Casey spent the weekend with her brother at Matiere.

On Friday Mr. A. Rutherford was tendered a farewell by members of the Wairere Power Board. Mr. Rutherford, who has left to take a position in Dannevirke, was presented with a fountain pen by the staff.
