Up to about six weeks ago it appeal'd that the killings of lambs and sheep at the Southland freezing works for the present season would show a drop of not less than 10 per cent, (states the Southland Times), but it is now certain that when killing ends this week the totals will be practically up to last week’s record figures. This good rsult has been obtained because of the favourable weather during the late autumn and early winter, the abundance of feed enabling growers to fatten many late lambs which would otherwise have been carried over as stores.
