ROVER NOTES

(By Campfire)

Things moved rapidly in the Rovers Den on Thursday night. The cr.ew’s membership was reduced by one by the recent departure of Rover Ken Massicks, who has been transferred to Auckland. A presentation of a leather tobacco pouch was made to him by his brother Rovers, who wished him the very best for the future. The Rover leader in a snappy little speech, told Ken that if he should ever visit Te Kuiti again, he could always be sure of a welcome from the Te Kuiti Rovers and he hoped Ken would carry on Rovering in Auckland. To keep up the custom of the Rovers Jack Boughen supplied the supper to celebrate his 21st birthday, although the Te Kuiti Rovers were able to “out eat” their two visitors from Otorohanga, there was still plenty left for William, the crew’s mascot.

Rapid progress was made on the Rover hut during the week-end, but it will be some time oet'ore hot and cold water will be laid on.

Things We Would Like To Know.

Was it grilled mutton chops you had for breakfast, Ted, or was it a burnt offering?

Who suggested to go to the Viaduct on Thursday night?

Why did “Cliff” have to leave the camp at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon?

Did the Rover Council feel a little tired on Sunday night? Will the Rover Mate have his lodge book up to date by due date?

Public notice: Any person crossing our bridge do so at their own risk.
