The first shipment of sheep from Whangarei to the south this season took place last week, when Dalgety and Co., Ltd., to the order of the Small Farms Board, sent 50 trucks of wethers to the King Country. The sheep were drawn from a large area, the majority coming from the Kaikohe and Broadwood districts, while the balance was procured from Kirikopuni and Whangarei.
The condition of affairs on the waterfront and the constant risk of holding up business through disputes was strongly criticised by the Minister of Labour (Hon H. T. Armstrong) on Saturday. He expressed the opinion that some inquiry would have to be held regarding work on the waterfront generally, not only in Auckland.
