It is just 31 years since Sir Truby King saw the need for awakening the public conscience regarding the wastages of infant life through lack of knowledge on the part of the parents generally. In spite of difficulty and misunderstanding, this man of genius forged ahead with his great service for humanity with the revolutionary results so well known throughout New Zealand and the entire world. At present the Te Kuiti and Otorohanga and other branches in the district are endeavouring to reawaken the public mind to the existing benefits derived from this, the only international infant welfare system in the world, and are conducting vigorous campaigns to increase their membership. In this connection, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health and the Leader of the Opposition have jointly issued an appeal for the cooperation and loyal response of all citizens to the appeal now being made.
