The American in the corner of the non-smoking first-class carriage Insisted on lighting his cigar. The indignant Briton in the other corner protested, and at last he hailed the guard, but the placid American was too quick for him. "Guard," he drawled, "I think you'll find this gentleman is travelling with a third-class ticket." He was right, and the indignant Briton was ejected. A spectator of the little scene asked the American how he knew about the ticket. "Waal," he explaned, "it was sticking out of his pocket, and I saw it was the same colour as mine."
