Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their annual Winter Ewe Fair at Te'Kuiti yesterday, when the advertised number of sheep was offered to a fair attendance of local and a few outside buyers. The usual lines of ewes entered at this Fair came forward and the quality generally was not quite equal to that offered in previous years. Bidding was slack for a start and throughout the sale prices were erratic. Some lines of really good ewes did not realise ' quite their full value, ' whilst ' some inferior good sorts were remarkably well sold. The demand for young ewes running with Romney rams was particularly keen and prices for this class were good. Hoggets commanded keen attention and values were perhaps a shade higher than at recent sales. Top price for 4 and 5-year-old ewes was obtained for Mr. J. W. Andrew's entry from Tangitu which realised 38s, whilst £2 5s was obtained for 2-tooth ewes from R. S. Barker, Mangapehi. A line of 219 2, 4 and 6-tocth ewes sold on account of Mr. W.
