PERSONAL
Miss Mulligan, of Ghristchurch, is the guest of Mrs. W. Blundell.
Master Lloyd Lee was fourth in the New Zealand Cornet Championship at Nelson —a highly meritorious performance for a lad of 15 years of age. Mr. W. A. Lee was welcomed to the Bench on the occasion of his first sitting as a Justice of the Peace by Mr. A. Paterson yesterday, when a Justices' Court was held. With him were associated Messrs. J. Tammadge and J. Sharp. The engagement has been announced of Jean Ellice, third daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. A. Avery, of Te Kuiti, to Joseph Henry Francis, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Phipps, of Kaiapoi, South Island. To farewell Mr. R. Lambie, who has been transferred to Taumarunui, a very successful dance was held in the Parish Hall last evening. Close on eighty people attended the function. During the evening Mr. J. Krogh, on behalf of those present, presented Mr. Lambie with a fountain pen and pencil. He referred to willing and able manner in which Mr. Lambie had aided organisations with which he was connected, notably the Golf Club, and to the part he had played in the social life of the town. In his reply Mr. Lambie expressed,, his regret at having to leave the good. friends he had made in Te Kuiti. ; , ,
