Mr. 8. Power is spending his annual leave on his farm at Mokauiti.

Dr. and Mrs. Isaac are at present on holiday in Wellington. Dr. Hotter ig acting as "locum" for Dr. Isaac.

Mrs. A. Paterson is at present in Wellington attending a conference of the New Zealand Librarians.

Miss L. McKinlay left this morning for Paeroa, where she has received a teaching appointment.

Mr. and Mrs. IL Cameron, of Te Kuiti, are on a visit to Ohura and ■are the guests of Mr. W. B. Turner, Roto.

Miss M. Armour, of Feilding, who has been the guest of Mrs. A. Moller, has returned home.

Mr. R. Lambie, of the staff of Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., has received notice of transfer to Taumarunui.

Miss June Blundell, of Te Awamutu, who has been the guest of Mrs. H. L. Dinsdale, returned to her home this morning.

Mr. E. J. Garlick, local engineer of the Public Woiks Department, is at present attending the annual conference of the Civil Engineers' Association in Christchurch.

Miss M. Wright left this morning for New Plymouth to resume her hospital training after spending her holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Wright, at Te Kuiti and Rotorua. •-.

Master Lloyd Lee,. of Te Kuiti, in the Dominion Brass Band Contests at Nelson, first place in the cornet solo, under 17. An eyen greater achievement was his gaining second place in the B flat amateur championship open to adults with long experience. Master Lee was taught by his father, Mr. R. D. Lee, and was tutored by Mrs. Stott with the piano accompaniments. To-day he will compete in the professional cornet championship.

About 60 guests were present at a most enjoyable party held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday evening to celebrate the coming of .age of Mrs. Jack Blackman. The hall was tastefully decorated with balloons and streamers. After the usual toasts had been honoured,- Mrs. Blackman was successful in blowing out all of the twenty-one candles on her cake, which was made, by Mrs. Harris. During the evening a tap dance was given by Misses M. Irvine and R. Harris, songs by Messrs. B. and K. Cotter, and a saxophone solo by Mr. L. Stout. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss G. Boles and Mr. K. Blackman. Mr. H. Douglas acted as a very efficient M.C. The evening was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
