BEAUTY.
FOUNDATIONS OF BEAUTY. Please don’t tell me, those of you who ai-e thin, thal you don’t need a brassiei’e. That may be all right while you are very young, but as you grow older, however thin you may be, your bust will lose its mere “undevelopment” and you will be inclined to sag. Apart from the fact that Fashion has decided (and I do not think we shall ever go back to the flat-as-boards figures) that delicately feminine curves are desirable, please look as lovely in your bath as you do in your newest gown. If you know you are lovely, you’ll acquire the most perfect poise. Very few women are perfectly proportioned. This is not necessarily because of excess fat, but is frequently a matter of bone formation. I believe the greatest difficulty that women experience in their search for the ideal girdle is in finding one that is a perfect fit in both hips and bust. All makers of good foundation garments have a great many models, and there is one firm which has classified them into five definite types by which you may recognise your own. Another famous corsetiere has designed a special elestic tricot, and this is woven in varying degrees of tension so as to achieve a perfect subtlety oi. line. This tricot stimulates and strengthens the muscles, and apart from an immediate improvement in your appearance, those figure-faults for which superfluous flesh is responsible will gradually fade away. The very best thing for you to do when you are contemplating the purchase of a new girdle is to go to one of the big stores, or to the makers themselves where they have retail shops. Be prepared to spend some time over your choice. Tell the assistant of your personal figure difficulties, let her measure you carefully, and then try on garment after garment—until you are perfectly fitted. It is not sufficient to have your waist measured and then to make your selection from the counter. I am really emphatic about this—you must try them on.
