TE KUITI EWE FAIR
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., repoi’t having held their annual ewe fair at Te Kuiti on Friday, sth February. Well over the advertised number of ewes came forward, our yarding totalling just on 10,000 head. Sheep came forward in good order and the bulk of the yarding was sold. Prices with the exception of a few lines of extra good sheep were considerably below recent sales, very few outside buyers being present. Top price for both 4-year-old ewes and 2-tooth ewes was obtained by Mr. Robert Cole, whose 4-year-olds made the good price of 36s 8d and the 2-tooths £2 7s, and for Mr. C. P. Olsson’s annual draft of 4-year-old ewes from Waitomo 36s 7d was obtained, whilst a line of smaller aged ewes on account of Mr. T. Were, Mangaohae, realised 35s sd. Quotations: Good 2-tooth ewes £2 3s to £2 7s; medium 37s to £2 Is; small 33s 4d to 36s 8d; best 4-year-old ewes 34s to 36s 8d; medium 30s to 33s lOd; best 5-yeai‘-old ewes 28s to 30s 4d; medium 26s Id to 27s lOd; 6-year-old ewes 23s to 25s Id; aged ewes 18s to 22s 6d; medium 4 and 6-tooth ewes 355; medium 4tooth ewes 36s 6d.
