Mr. W. W. Horne, whose condition had given cau.se for serious concern, has very much improved the last few days. The death occurred at the Auckland Hospital on Friday last, of a wellknown settler of the Otorohanga district in the person of Mr. Charles Beale Hobson, aged 70 years. The late Mr. Hobson farmed extensively at Whawharua, Otorohanga, and Pio Pio, and was a most pregressive settler and public-spirited man. He is survived by his widow and an adult family.
