TE KUITI EWE FAIR
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having had their usual ewe fair at Te Kuiti on the sth inst. We penned 5000 ewes, the bulk of the yarding consisting of full-mouth sheep in good order. There was a good attendance of buyers, and taking quality into consideration a very successful sale took place. For sheep direct from the breeders the demand was very keen, our top price for the day being £2 5s for a good quality line of 2-tooth ewes from Mr. C. McDonald. Mr. W. S. Parks’ annual draft of 4 and 5-year ewes made 335, while 5-year ewes from Mr. B. Board realised 275.
Quotations: First-class 2-tooth ewes 455, plainer sorts 38s 6d to 435, 4year ewes 33s 36s, 4 and 5-year ewes 31s 6d to 335; good 5-year ewes 27s to 29s 6d; 6-year ewes of good quality 24s 6d to 255; aged ewes suitable for one year, 18s to 245; rough sorts 15s to 18s; and cull ewes 10s 6d to 14s.
