TANGITU SHEEP FAIR
Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., Te Kuiti, report having held their annual sheep fair at Tangitu on the 2nd inst. Sheep came forward in excess of advertised numbers, the yarding consisting for the greater part of annual drafts of 4 and 5year ewes and lines of wether lambs. There was a good attendance of buyers and the class of the yarding was favourably commented on. There was a good sale for all classes except a few aged and inferior ewes which were not wanted. A number of lines of very good quality 4-year ewes were offered and sold under keen competition, the top price for this class being 36s 7d for Mr. J. Sullivan's annual draft. Lambs and wethers were in keen demand" and sold right up to the top prices of the season. Quotations: 2-tooth wethers 24s 3d to 25s 7d; small 2-tooth ewes 34s to 37s 6d; 4-year ewes 33s 6d to 36s 7d; 5-year ewes 26s 3d to 30s; medium 4 and 6-tooth ewes 27s 6d to 31s 6d; 6-year ewes to 255; aged ewes 20s to 245; failing mouths 15s to 18s; small ewe lambs 18s 2d to 21s 2d; good wether lambs 18s 6d to 20s; medium wether lambs 16s to 17s 6d; small 13s to 15s; aged Romney rams sold from 3 to 6 gns.
