CAMPING SITE
USE BY MANY CAMPERS. 37 IN ONE NIGHT. Despite the unfavourable holiday weather, the camping site on the Domain has been well patronised this holiday season. Over the Christmas holidays themselves the occupants of over 200 cars spent a night in the camp*. A new record for any one night was set on Boxing night, when the occupants of 37 cars made use of the site. Over the Christmas holidays the fees collected amounted to £29, as against £26 last holiday season. Had it not been for the wet weather probably this year's total would have been still further increased. The fee charged is 2s 6d for each vehicle. Most of the campers stop just the single night at Te Kuiti, they finding it a convenient spot to halt on a motor tour. More caravans are on the road this year, though, of course, tents are still more commonly used by campers. Since the holidays the camp has been well patronised, and there are still three or four camping parties on the ground each night. All campers seem well satisfied with the facilities, and also by the fact that the soil does not hold the water —the site drains itself admirably.
