KILLED BY WOLVES

PARTY OP PILGRIMS.

Four hundred Moslem pilgrims from Soviet Russia set out in a caravan on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

They were attacked by starving wolves when crossing the Russian Steppes. Seven of them were pulled down by the hordes of wolves and had to be left to their fate. The rest reached Istanbul almost exhausted. They decided to leave at once for Jeddah.

A special steamer was chartered, but a blizzard forced it back into port. When the blizzard lifted, and before the pilgrims could start again the ship was seized by a creditor of her owners.

It is doubtful if the pilgrims will reach Mecca in time.
