"Acute alcoholism" was the complaint of a Wairarapa man recently admitted ,to the Wellington Public Hospital, from which institution a letter was received at this week's meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board claiming the cost of the treatment. The managing'-.secretary of the Wairarapa Board (Mr. Norman Lee) said: "This is a case of a man who gets his pension, goes to Wellington, and, to put it plainly, has a glorious gets the D.T. : s, and goes to hospital, which costs us 9s a day." He suggested that the Commissioners of Pensions should be apprised of the position and asked "to discontinue the man's pension. This was agreed to.
