RUGBY UNION

FOOTBALL AFFAIRS DISCUSSED. The fortnightly meeting of the management Committee of the Rugby Union was held on Tuesday evening, Mr. R. Farrow presiding. When the Kawhia Sub-Union asked tha Maniapoto visit Kawhia'on May 23, the Committee decided that they could not see their way clear to play a representative game so early in the season. All junior football is to be postponed on May 23 owing to the Volunteers being then in Hamilton for the presentation of the new colours. As a result of a recommendation from the Junior Advisory Board Waipa is to be written to with the object of arranging a junior representative match. A third grade representative game was also suggested, but the Union decided to hold this matter over until a later date. i A limited number of footballs are to be distributed among schools this year, and schools desiring them are advised to apply immediately. Some discussion of the non-playing of junior matches on May 2 ensued. Eventually the Union decided that these matches should not be forfeited but be played at the end of the round.
