I "He said that he wasn't paying for the meal, and that he wanted to have ' the steak analysed to see if it was rump steak," said a waitress in the Magistrate's Court, Wellington, yesterday, when a man was charged with having a meal at a city restaurant and not paying for it, and with being drunk in a public place. The witness explained that the man asked for rump steak and eggs. He had eaten the eggs, and had then refused to pay, alleging that the steak was not rump. Cross-examined by Mr. A. J. • Mazengarb, she said that she cut it up to show the man that it was rump, but that he remained unconvinced. "He wanted to take the steak away on a plate to get it analysed," said Constable R/H. Hill. The Magistrate, Mr. W. F. Stillwell, S.M., dismissed both charges.
