WESTFIELD SALE. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly sale of fat stock at Westfield on Wednesday, 19th February, as under:— v Beef.—We yarded 186 head of beef, comprising 46 steers and 140 cows and heifers, against 181 head last week. The quality was again first-class and selling under a ready demand we have to report a good sale at rates on a par with last week. Extra choince ox sold to 32s per lOOlbs; choice and prime 28s to 31s; secondary and plain 22s to 275; prime young cow and heifer beef 25s to 295; ordinary cow beef 17s to 245; heavy prime steers £ll to £ll 17s 6d; lighter prime £lO to £lO 15s; light prime £8 10s to £9 10s; small and unfinished £6 to £7 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £7 to £7 10s; heavy prime £5 10s to £6

10s; lighter prime £4 to £5 ss; other killable cows £2 to £3 10s.

Sheep.—Sheep came forward in average numbers for which the demand was good and we have to report a keen sale at rates improved on last week. Extra heavy prime wethers, shorn, 27s to 28s; heavy prime 25s 9d to 26s 9d; medium prime 24s to 25s 6d; light and unfinished 22s to 23s 6d; heavy prime ewes 16s 9d to 18s; lighter prime 15s to 16s 6d, other ewes 12s to 14s 6d.

Lambs.—A small entry of lambs sold under good competition at fully late rates. Heavy prime lamb 22s to 235; medium prime 20s to 21s Cd; light prime 18s 6d to 19s 6d. Calves. —A full yarding of calves

came forward. Competition was fairly steady but values eased a little as the sale progressed. We did not offer any heavy prime runners. Heavy vealers £3 8s to £3 16s; medium £2 15s to £3 3s; light £2 4s to £2 9s; smaller £1 11s to £2; rough calves 15s to £1 10s; bobby calves 6s to 10s.

Pigs. —pigs were yarded in well over average numbers. Porkers sold steadily at late rates but values for baconers eased a little. Heavy baconers £2 16s to £3 Is; medium £2 11s to £2 14s; light £2 7s to £2 9s; heavy porkers £2 2s to £2 4s; medium £1 16s to £1 19s; light £1 11s to £1 15s; small and unfinished £1 4s to £1 10s.
