When seeking suggestions for streams in Southland for a fishing expedition he intended making, a Christchurch professional man, in a letter to the secretary of the Southland Acclimatisation Society, stated that friends and he had been fishing over the holidays in South Canterbury in the dairying district and had had their camp wrecked by a Jersey bull. “I am, therefore, asked to mention that a spot away from dairy herds would be preferred.
