PECULIAR FERRY

A ferry which is not a ferry at all takes visitors a quarter of a mile to sea. at Burgh Island, in Devon, England. At least this unusual ferry is not a boat, cannot sink, is not worked either by paddles, screw, sail or steam, and cannot even float. What is more, it cannot rock or roll. It gropes its way on caterpillar tractors along the sea floor, driven by a 24-horse-power gasoline engine. An added advantage, from the. owner's viewpoint, is that no joyrider can take this ferry out surreptitiously for a trip to the open sea. Unless of course, he owns a diving suit.
