MR. PENNIKET’S VIEWS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,-: —This candidate criticised the Government “for raising the exchange rate which has resulted in an accumulation of sterling in London which'should be utilised for buying British goods.” This shows a lamentable lack of knowledge upon quite an elementary fact. Such a statement is misleading and should be corrected. The sterling fund in paid out here when the produce is sold. The farmers have had this money already. Mr. Penniket is apparently a greedy man: he wants to both eat and have his cake! His views on the Reserve Bank also display a complete ignorance of the transaction. He should stick to facts and not talk fiction.—l am, etc., SPECTATOR.
