THE MEAT PROBLEM
POSITION STILL A DEADLOCK. NO COMPROMISE POSSIBLE. (Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.20 a.m.) London, May 13. The meat situation remains a deadlock. The British and Australian Ministers resumed deliberations in Mr. J. H. Thomas's room in the House of Commons this afternoon, and again traversed the whole ground, but there was not the slightest progress, and the Ministers departed without even issuing a communique.
All the proposals and counterproposals were apparently futile and it was impossible to compromise on the Anglo-Argentine agreement either pending the termination of the agreement or afterwards. " The Australian Press Association, referring to the Anglo-Australian meat deadlock, says Mr. Coates takes up the discussion on behalf of New Zealand later in the week. He will take a different line from the Australian delegates.
