At the meeting of the recentlyformed Otorohanga Rabbit Board, Mr. Bradlaugh Symes (Puketotara) presided, and Messrs. J. Williamson (Honikiwi), M. Cowley (Pirongia Road), H. E. Martin (Whawharua), W. G. Bonner 'Te Kuiti), G. B. Melrose (Inspector at Te Awamutu), and J. G. Wynyard (secretary, Te Awamutu) were in attendance. Mr. H. N. Sewell’s appointment as rabbit inspector was confirmed. The Board arranged for an overdraft of £230 at a local bank. It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Bonner, to make a thorough inspection of the area, so that a correct estimate of the poison requii’ed could be made. Mr. J. Dalziel is to be offered the appointment of assistant rabbiter. The chairman reuorted that a tender had been accepted for the provision of a hut for the rabbiter, the erected cost to be £36. It was decided to endeavour to purchase five acres on which the hut is to stand, if the Lands Department is prepared to sell at a nominal price. Poisoning will take place in January next, and, whilst the trapping of rabbits is nrohibited, settlers may make application to the Board, in extreme cases, for permission to trap or shoot rabbits. The following rates were struck:—Honikiwi district and Hydes Area Id, and the rest of the land under the jurisdiction of the Board 2d per acre.
