"We have travelled in Norway, Switzerland, Canada and many other countries, and thought we had been treated to the finest scenery in the world until we came to New Zealand," said Mrs. P. T. Perry to a Christchurch Times reporter. She is travelling with her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Granville. "We regarded it as a privilege to go on the New Zealand glaciers. Those we have seen, particularly in Norway, have been so inaccessible that all we could do was to regard them with awe from a distance. Here they are much more friendly. Norway's scenery is magnificent, but harder and colder than that of New, Zealand. Here there is stupendous scenery with such wonderful softness." The glories of the New Zealand bush, particularly the ferns, and the hospitality of the people, also came in for praise.
