JUSTICES’ COURT
THEFT OF WIRELESS SET.
In the Justices’ Court this morning, before Messrs. J. Walsh and J. Tammadge, J.P.’s, a number of cases were heard.
Two charges were preferred against a youth of breaking and entering the house of Henry Thorne Morton and stealing wireless equipment valued at a total of £35. The first offence was alleged to have take place on July 22, when equipment worth £5 was stolen, and the second on August 7, when £3O value was stolen. The accused was remanded to appear on the 23rd instant. Bail was allowed on his oWn recognisance of £IOO, and of his parents £IOO, and another of £IOO, with the condition that the accused report daily to the police. An application to suppress the name was granted. Motor Offences. Benjamin Flavell, on a charge of driving a motor lorry without a taillight in Rora Street on July 19, was convicted and fined 10s, with costs 10s. Charles Henderson, on a charge of riding an insufficiently lighted bicycle in Rora Street on the same date, was fined 10s, with: costs 10s also. For failing to produce his driver’s license Rue Tere was convicted and discharged. On the charge of driving a vehicle not having number plates oh the Wai-rere-Pio Pio Road, the defendant was fined £5, with costs 25s 6d.
Mr. Mackersey, appearing for the County Council, stressed the seriousness of such offences, for among other things, the third party risk cover did not apply to an unlicensed vehicle.
